**** Announcement and Request *****

Since Yen and I returned from Viet Nam, I have shared stories and photographs. We were particularly struck when we visited the extremely poor village outside of Da Lat. The dire straits of these elegant folks, is greatly multiplied by the fact that they have no safe water source. All of their water is hand carried, from a malaria and pollution ridden creek a quarter mile or so away. It seemed to me that it shouldn't cost that much to solve this problem, and it doesn't. But, being that they are a minority tribe, the Vietnamese Government will do nothing for them.

This is what I have discovered:
1) good water sits directly below them, but they have no resources to drill a well.
2) The cost to drill a well is $800 US, which seems an awfully cheap price to buy some health for over 100 families, and nearly 300 children.

Yen and I have undertaken to develop clean water sources for the village. We hope to drill not one, but three wells in the village.

If you, my Cyber pals, would like to help us out with this cause, we would appreciate a donation. I assure you, every penny will go to benefit the village people. Any funds we can collect that go beyond the cost to build these wells, will go to food, clothing and medicine. Also, if through some sort of bureaucratic snafu, we are not able to follow through on the wells, all of the funds will go to medicine, food and clothing.

I have a man that I trust, working on the project now in Da Lat. The necessary paperwork has been filled out, and the project is under way.

Those so inclined may send a donation check in the name of:
