Perhaps so, but it is of a piece with academically successful black students being taunted by their peers for "acting white"; with radicals claiming that the white race has been the scourge of the planet, sort of the flip- side of the old boast about the dynamic Nordic race; with the endemic anti- semitism of the black community; with the attempt to claim Eqypt as a part of black Africa, and to assert that civilization started there; with the partial embrace of racial stereotypes on the part of the African pride folks, so that blacks are held to have more rhythm and "soul" than white folk; etc. I admit, "Uncle Tom" could just mean "sell- out". But there is a contemporary context which gives it more bite, I think.......
