Wanna 1500+ means more then 1500 but not exactly 1500 so AMD isn't lying at all. The performance difference on office benchmarks between a 200FSB and 266FSB are nominal at these clock rates.

Just think of it as Netburst that will speed up your modem.

Re: It's good for them that mobile benchmarks are hardly as scrutinized as they are on the desktop

Even better for Intel, that has been shipping mobile systems that ran at 2/3's speed on battery all these years.

AMD's advanced PowerNow technology lets their notebooks run at full speed even on battery while changing voltage and speed many times per second to conserve the battery when it's not needed.

Intel's speedstep has to be rebooted to change speeds, and their speedstepII pale, limited, copy of PowerNow doesn't work and had to be disabled on Dell (and other) notebooks.

<It begins. AMD's model numbers are getting out of control. >

AMD's model numbers drive Intel mad. They work like a charm. Come to think of it, Dan3 deserves credit for the idea, and the truly yours for passing it up to AMD. <VBG>.

Beamer - Re: "It begins. AMD's model numbers are getting out of control. Now they expect people to believe that a 1.3GHz processor is exactly as fast as their previously stated 1.33GHz processor (even though their new mobile miracle is restricted to the slower 200MHz bus, and is 33MHz slower than their previous M1500+). It's good for them that mobile benchmarks are hardly as scrutinized as they are on the desktop. Sooner or later, though, people will see through their chicanery."

Thanks for highlighting AMD's pitfall for their crazy numbering scheme.

I hope Intel introduces a model 24,000 Pentium 4 next month - that will give the diarrheaDroids a hernia !
