Well, from the polls I have seen, even Daschle is calling for bi-partisan passage of the budget bill. Remember, he didn't see we had the votes to pass it (that is, until the latest polls hit).

I am referring to the attack on economic issues and the fact the American public are pretty savvy investors (they know a penny whore stock when they see one, no matter how big it used to be). So, they are not buying the Enron scandal (check your polls for confirmation).

Now, what will become real apparent is if there is another attack, the fact the congress hasn't passed a tax cut budget as an insurance policy will be felt by the markets. Any attack (big enough) to dump the market will keep the market down for several months and create a larger group of the unemployed. The banks will get real nervous and tighten credit as well as be aggressive on collecting bad debt.

That tax cut budget is more important than the Democratic party is willing to give it.
