I think you are over-interpreting what Elmer said.

FWIW, I agree with his original statement, in the context he made it. You could argue that it was given a slightly biased slant, but certainly no more so than any other posts in this forum.

By most testing sites, the XP2000 is faster than the NW 2.0

As I said, that certainly depends on your metric. On the whole, I would say that the two chips are extremely close in performance, although with rather different characteristics (making a direct comparison somewhat difficult).

As for the 2.2GHz NW, it certainly has the performance crown in my book.

I still haven't seen any indication that a 1.9GHz Northwood is available. According to Intel data sheets, it's only available in 2.0 and 2.2GHz flavors.
