tw, you missed my point. Tape drives are inherently unreliable. Anyone who has become "comfortable" with the concept of tape backup will eventually be proven a fool.

IMHO, If you don''t have 100% of your valuable files backed up on another hard drive, you are kidding yourself. I've been there 2+ times and I wouldn't wish the results on my worst enemy ... no ... I WOULD recommend relying on tape backups in my worst enemy.

IMHO, friends should forego tape backups and rely solely on disk-to-disk backups. Removable drives, Raid, and dual servers are all helpful. Removable and remotely stored drives are best.
