CPQ hosts an analyst meeting last friday and raised 2002 earnings guidance to .32 vs the consensus of .25; analysts leave fairly split over the future. CSFB would continue to recommend CPQ with a buy rating and points to the company's ability to generate free cash flow for 7 quarters in a row. CE Unterberg writes'the meeting was so good that we were left to wonder why it needs to merge with HWP. Firm remains comfortable buying the stock at current DEPRESSED valuation-even if the HWP deal ultimately fails. ABN AMBRO is more cautious on shares. Firm is impressed with CPQ's restructuring efforts over the past year, but continues to believe the company faces several challanges and rates the shares fully valued.
