No, TP, the center is where most people tend to be. That is why Clinton had to present himself as a "Republican Light"; why Clintoncare was shot down; why the Congress went to the Republicans after Clinton's liberalism reared its head; why Gore had to run as a fiscal conservative and be guarded in proposing spending initiatives; why it was basically a tie between Bush and Gore; why no one cares much about the issues you keep thinking should ruin Bush, like the ANWR or the Kyoto Treaty; why Bush started office with a 57% approval rating, and is now at 86%; etc. No, the mainstream is not ideologically conservative. It is not ideologically liberal, either. However, it tends more towards conservatism, which is why Bush is their kind of guy.......
