It's definitely the Palomino core, and not the T-bird core. It gets higher IPC, that's a difference.

So does tweaking some stuff constitute making a new core? I don't know. In any event, Quantispeed is an advertising gimmick, not an architecture. Nuf sed. Over and out. So what's the story on AMD 0.13, Hammer tapeout, etc.? Another month starts next week. AMD threw their typical smokescreens out at the CC, mentioning words like imminent, and stressing line yields, which is basically the inverse of wafer breakage. I would think AMD investors would expect more from their fearless leaders, but they let them get away with murder instead.
