You do not have to have money to be a snob. That concept was a bastardization of the true meaning. A snob is a wannabe rich elitist and true brown-noser of the elite. A thumb-your-nose proletariat of the proletariat.

I would suggest it is someone who is embarrassed of their own origin and believes by rejecting their roots, they will grow out of their humble origin. Unfortunately, snobism is a virulent disease of the root system. It neglects the roots and stunts the persons growth.

The roots of humble people are strong like the roots of a honeysuckle. We build character from the knowledge of our roots and the understanding of their historical obligation (whether that history is good or bad, we can change the future from that knowledge by our own resolve).
