Marc: It's the first time in two years

... that Apple has beaten Gateway in unit sales for a quarter. Note that the figures are for worldwide sales, and Gateway has basically abandoned the international market. Two years ago, Apple beat Gateway when both were worldwide presences, back when both companies were selling about twice as many computers as they sold last quarter.

I agree with you that Gateway is unlikely to catch back up to Apple again for at least a couple more quarters, both because of the international factor, and also because I think Apple has a little bit more going for them than Gateway does just now.

Gateway's going to be pretty well paralyzed until the economy turns around, I think, which ought to be for at least another six months. In the meantime, how 'bout those new iMacs?!
