Bob,

My greatest fear with this stock is a merger.

Great minds think alike:-) That is my greatest fear for many of the smaller names I hold. The premium to be offered many times is a fraction of what they could do on their own.

COHU is also a nice play on the industry given its competitive position within the industry, and its superb balance sheet. A current ratio of 7+ for a sector leader is unheard of. And since my purchase this morning was on margin(a judicious use IMO), having a 1% dividend to help offset margin expenses is certainly nice.

I'm not smart enough to know which chip will be successful or best - I just know they all need to be tested. There's where Cohu comes in - all the time.

This is exactly my line of reasoning for this sector. It is more of a linear sector than any other; moves are made in baby steps and one does not need to be an Einstein to understand to a large degree who the winners will be. Other sectors(such as communication and software) have companies and products appear out of the blue and this is difficult, if not altogether impossible, to predict who the eventual winner will be. Understanding and knowing your limits is as much a part of success in investing as anything else.

Brian

Bob,

i bought some more COHU yesterday at 18.60. probably my last for this current cycle unless we drop below 16 i will buy some more.

at what price do you think COHU shares are worth in a merger and what kind of premium? i would not agree to a total cash buyout, stock for stock with a hefty premium would be fine with me.

i dont expect tomorrows earnings news to be great, just looking for stabilization.

i failed to buy COHU at 13's. i think u r probably the only one on this thread who had the cajones and brains to do it. congrats!
