Hi Linda,

Very sorry to hear about the mess.

Utility rooms on the first floor next time, eh? Perhaps with a floor drain? I seem to recall that the last Midwest house I lived in, my parent's, had this one figured out in 1960. I guess your residence represents an evolutionary advance. From what I've seen of the building industry, its been two steps back for every one forward for a couple of decades. When my folks installed Air Conditioning, recently, the condensing unit went into the attic. Of course, when it sprang a leak, my Dad discovered that the HVAC guy had low-balled the project and skipped the condensate drain pan. Re-plastered ceilings were the next step. Penny wise and pound foolish, as the saying goes.
