soros, You could be right; it may be different this time.
Something to think about.

For now, I think a rebound in the market looks like a reasonable "bet" for the short term, given that so many companies are getting hit in a big way just because of complexity in financial statements and on rumors.

Looks like my short term "capitulation" scenario does not seem to be working yet--and that called for a positive close. I guess not today.
