there is probably a parenting thread someplace, but I thought your end result was correct tho we may disagree on how you got there. I don't think you punished him for the crime, you punished him for being a brat and daring you to ruin his day. The fact that you can turn this around to a "responsibility" thing is icing on the cake (as well as true). I think it would have been a tough decision if he had played the situation correctly, apologised prufulsly how it would never happen again and you still lowered the boom. Depending on where you live and the circumstances of your neiborhood the crime could have been deemed minor to "what Are you crazy son?!" so I cant judge the call there. Your parental limit was tested, as far as I can see, you passed. I'll bet he is ALOT smarter next time.
