It's plainly right for any group of people to move to a new place, buy a small amount of land from the locals, and then declare themselves an independent nation, carefully using a gerrymandered border to ensure that they will have a voting majority. That way they can enjoy the benefits of Democracy and Freedom wherever they want to in the world.

Worked for America - though it took awhile to go from settling to independence.
