It makes more sense to see Infiniband and HyperTransport (or 3GIO) as complimentary technologies.

As for 3GIO itself, it's a perfect case of NIH. 3GIO does indeed go one step further than HyperTransport, but it should given that HT was here first.


Tenchusatsu, are they complementary? Its clear that Infiniband is more sophisticated than HT but is that sophistication needed with the current generation of servers and networking boxes?

Just for the record, this isn't a posting exercise for me......I am considering buying some AMD. I am impressed that they are expanding the range of their products. And it seems they are keeping up with Intel on the technology side as it effects the chips they both sell. Pretty impressive stuff for a much smaller competitor.

So that you or Intel don't feel slighted, I have Intel in my 401. ;~))
