bbm,

Now it makes sense. I wouldn't say despair is the emotion I feel. That may be the hope of some on the right, but as you probably have noted, I have a feisty side, and it is anger and outrage that I feel about Cheney's self-dealing ways. When I'm not reflecting upon the immortal line from "Casablanca" - Then "I'm shocked, shocked to find that there's (corruption) going on here!". <gg>

Re: "Lining my own" - Well, interestingly, I viewed it more as a means of supplementing my IRA so that I wouldn't be such a burden on society or a miserable old cuss when I got too old to participate in the labor market. I thought I was trying to do what any responsible adult ought to, i.e. prepare for a secure future. Since Dick Cheney has enough money already from his Halliburton gig, I see him, much as Peggy Noonan reflected in her NY Times editorial over the weekend, as serving no purpose by further filling his already overflowing pockets. Yet he can't help himself. It's a disease for him, and a sensible interest in economic security for me. YMMV <smile>
