I first heard of the cycle at an O'Neil (IBD) roadshow in 1988.

It doesn't fit exactly to every 40 years back, but the concept may have promise, perhaps on a demographics basis

the first cycle (1857-1880) may have something to do with war babies born after the civil war, the next cycle was war babies after WW II. What were we fighting about in the current cycle?

Or there's the dawning of the railroad age, the automobile and post war reconstruction, and the computer pc revolution and new found freedom after the Soviet Union crumbled
