Jon:

CO.. Central Office Code. also know as NXX codes.

Those are the first 6 digits in you phone number.

(AREA CODE - EXCHANGE)

You can't sell phones unless you have phone numbers to issue. You can't issue phone numbers until you are assigned a corresponding CO code. Which takes you back to the NAMPA web site I gave everyone on Yahoo.

nanpa.com

When you download the Excel spreadsheet files at the bottom for the East, West, Central. You can use the growth rate of the CO codes issued to determine per market growth.

The Buffalo Area Code "716" has been under "extreme jeporady" conditions for over 2 years.. It's Area Code is undergoing a "Split" where 716 is remaing with Buffalo and Rochester already has a new "585" Area Code. What the "extreme joporady" means is that additional CO codes are only issued at predetermined times and quanities.

As Cricket approached market launch. There seem to have been a sudden rush by evey other wireless service provider on additional CO codes. So LWIN had to wait in line wait for additional CO codes so they can launch service.

Someone posted a Soundview article that stated LWIN was going to launch Buffalo in December with Syracuse, but couldn't because of a Historic snow storm. However, I pointed out that a launch in December was impractical because they only had 1 CO code. (10,000 numbers) in an exchange outside of Buffalo. They didn't have a Buffalo Exchange CO code. So while everything else might be ready for launch.. They could not launch until they received additional CO codes.. They received 1 additional CO code for the Buffalo Exchange on or about the 17th of January. Which is when they updated their web site for "Coming Soon" to Buffalo.

You can't provide wireless service without FCC licenese, infrastructure, and phone numbers. Cricket did not have any phone numbers in the Buffalo Exchange to launch service before they received this single CO Buffalo exchange code in the middle of Jan.

In comparision.. They launched Syracuse with 3/4 the POP's of Buffalo with 4 CO codes. (40,000 numbers available)

Currently Buffalo only has 2 (20,000 numbers).. Which is better that the single CO code (for an non-Buffalo exchange) they had at the beginning of the year! Hopefully they can get a couple more in Feb.

Jon:

Download this file and UnZip it.

nanpa.com

Open it in Excel and click on the NY tab at the bottom.

Then use the Find function and search for Cricket.

You will find the Syracuse and Buffalo CO codes and their issue dates. You will see the Buffalo Exchange code was issued in mid Jan.

If you download the Central Code database. You will find that CO codes have already been issued for Grand Rapids, Muskegon, Saginaw/Bay City, and Lansing.

Additionally, you will see that the CLLI codes for the switches have already been issued for those markets. Which means the Switchs are in and operating.. Since Jackson, MI uses the Lansing Switch. But. Lansing service has not been lauched.

This is why I say that Lansing, Grand Rapids, Muskegon, and Saginaw are launch ready. Already built out.
