I think we agree to quite a high extent really. VIX is nothing I would use with "normal" technical indicators like RSI and Stoch and in fact I normally never put a moving average on it.

However, maybe I do see another meaning in the terms "support/resistance". To me it is just a way of saying that the curve has been repelled by an area before in a statistically significant way (not just by chance). I don't know if this really IS the case with the VIX, but it did seem that way at a quick glance. No, I don't think the big boys stand ready to buy heavily into the VIX now when we broke 200... ;)

BTW, I don't rule TA out as a tool in presedential polls either! But we do agree that marginmike is unanalyzable entity. -g-
