Yes, I do remember their refusal to allow us to fly- over their air space. I suppose a lot of it is conceit, although that is not universal, but seems especially prevalent in the Ile- de- France, where Paris is located. Funnily enough, most of the French restaurateurs I have met in the States emigrated from Lyons, which is roughly equivalent to Chicago in being the Second City. Also, most of the very provincial sorts, for example, Alsatian or Breton, that I have met have been very pro- American........

A close friend of mine wrote software for the French navy as a contractor. Later he went to work for E-Systems and had a hell of a time getting his security clearances.
