A fish rots from the head down. If bigwigs like Ken Lay, with friends holding high political offices, can make out like bandits, why would the little guys feel like slogging their butts off?

Re: "I wondered what Flappy was up to."

So nice of you to think of me, Doltan, while you were perusing newsmax.com and Bill O'Reilly's Web site for your daily fix of right-wing piss and vinegar. That story about union timeclock cheating was a doozy. (Is there some kind of universal truth we can distill from that story? I hope so!)

Yes, muchacho, there's a reason I haven't posted on SI for two and a half months (and no, I wasn't under suspension). The reason I've quit posting is that right-wing rage has become so (yawn) damn BORING. Wake me up when you have something interesting to say, will ya?

In the meantime, I'm just sitting back and watching the Enron meltdown and sympathizing with the now pennyless pensioners and thinking back to a year ago ... to six months ago ... when I was crying alone in the SI wilderness about the putrid smell coming from Big Business in this country.

I'll check in again in another two and a half months to see if you and your Bush buddies have offered anything interesting to say. My guess is the answer will be no.

It will be interesting to see what happens to the cost of labor in that, and other locations around the country.

Put in a Breathalyzer at the gate and you'll add 2 pts to the bottom line!
