another way to look at it would be kinda like orbital motion. Using the gravitational energy of the larger body to cause an increase in speed. Like using a close pass in lunar orbit to gain the momentum to leave lunar orbit to return to the earth.

the market moved toward the FOMC market time .. moving lower, lower, lower then WHAMM !!!! It's like a reversal of the fear build up.

Interesting part is that this form of the pattern used to be there during the long bull market. When we switched over to a bear market the pattern flipped upside down. In other words, the market would run up toward FOMC then make a fast break down.
