Story 3832 (AMZN)

PARIS (Dow Jones)--U.S. online retailer Amazon.com Inc. (AMZN) said Wednesday that Thomas Lot will replace Phillip Humm as European vice president and general manager.

Humm resigned from his position.

Lot, formerly in charge of wine retail Web site ChateauOnline, will also serve as managing director at Amazon.fr, the group's French Web site.

Humm had recently taken interim responsibility of French operations after the resignation of Amazon France CEO Georges Aoun, which was announced last week.

Aoun had been in office for eight months.

In Europe, Amazon operates CD, book and DVD retail Web sites in the U.K., France and Germany.
