Re: Mr. Walker said that the White House had mischaracterized what the G.A.O. was
seeking and that his office was "not asking for nearly as much as they say we are."

This evening on The News Hour on PBS, Mary Matalin, representing the Administration, flat out lied about what the GAO was requesting. She said that the GAO was requesting the content of the conversations between the Energy team for the Administration and the industry special pleaders (not her term for these special interests). This is not true. She's lying. She's further lying by holding up a copy of the Energy Policy report and saying that the Administration has been completely forthcoming about who was involved in the production of the plan because their names were on the frontispiece. This is mind-bogglingly Orwellian double speak. What is demanded by the GAO is the list of industry special interests who were able to lobby the Plan's creators. The only thing worse than her utterly shallow and unbelievable dissembling was her sartorial silliness. What was that thing she was wearing? She's proving herself to be a paragon of bad taste, not just qualifying fully for the "World's Worst Dressed" contest, but lying through her teeth for a feckless team that has no legs to stand on. Her attempt to distinguish between the status of the Vice President as a Constitutional rather than statutory entity was pure sophistry.
