BTW, for those Gold Bashers on the thread... since 1999 gold is up 25% in Canada, 33% in Germany, 50% down under, 100% in Japan... no need to chronicle it in third world currencies. Seems to have been a pretty darn reasonable investment in most of the world, hardly the type of stuff that sweeps it to the dust bin of history. DAK

But it gets tarnished. The best line on Lou Dobbs "Bobbin' For Scandal" Hour on CNN this afternoon was provided by Michael Regan of CSFB. He claimed that "Cash is Fact, Accounting is Opinion". All in his effort to hide the sordid mess at GE Capital with braggadocio about how Jack the Raper had managed to salt away $17 Billion in real money last year. Maybe, maybe not. The only thing for certain is we will never be told the truth by Michael Regan. Poor Mr. Berardino, have you seen him out with his begging cup? Pathetic. Dismissable. Replaceable. He and his malefactor cronies at AA & Cie. are toast. Shall we toast? Accounting is opinion? Accounting is fantasy! -Ray
