7:20AM Intel upped at Merrill Lynch (INTC) 33.86: Merrill Lynch's Joe Osha upgrades to near-term STRONG BUY from Buy; believes that INTC will see stronger than expected mkt share gains, improving visibility, and margin expansion during the next several qtrs; pricing pressure in the enterprise computing biz will increasingly favor INTC; and launch of 0.13 micron Northwood puts INTC in the best competitive position since 1999. Raises FY02 est to $0.73 from $0.70 due to higher gross margins; price target is $42.

7:58AM ChipPAC upped at CSFB (CHPC) 6.75: CSFB upgrades to BUY from Hold after the co reported an in-line qtr; expects co to outperform its peers due to: ongoing back-end consolidation, the continued outsourcing trend, blue-chip customer exposure, leadership position in the fast-growing China market, and its dominance as the major power semi packaging and test player.
