India denied the allegation about the abduction of Pearl, a reporter for the Wall Street Journal who went missing last week in the southern Pakistan city of Karachi.

Denying Pakistan's allegation of an Indian link to Pearl's abduction, Indian foreign ministry spokeswoman Nirupama Rao told a news briefing:

"This is one more unfortunate instance of the imagination of the Pakistani military spokesman running riot. It has the stamp of the ridiculous written all over it."
