Why Intel upgrade is a joke. Note: This is a common sense analysis involving absolutely zero research. I'm now using a PC that is 4 years old and has a Pentium III 450 Mhz chip and works just fine. I will get almost no benefit by upgrading to a Pentium 2 Ghz chip, so why do it? Anyways it would be cheaper for me to buy a whole Dell computer and get a monitor with it than to buy the Intel chip seperate. And why would some IT manager at a company cutting budgets (all companies cutting budgets now) with perfectly working 2 year old desktops tell his VP that he wants to upgrade? (Sidebar Note: if Dell can sell a whole state of the art computer with monitor for 699 bucks, how can they or any component makers be making much money or showing any growth?) Plus, last year Intel was showing a lot of their "EPS" from their "investments" in startups, now I assume those investments are worth zero and need to be written off. Conclusion: Unless they invent some new uses for PC chips, or come up with some new startup hot stocks, Intel won't be showing much real top line growth for some time now. Where am I wrong on this analysis?
