<<The other consideration is if the count is sufficiently high and the dealer is showing a death card (6,5, etc). Then, you want to split whatever you have to get that double bet when he is likely to bust>>

Reminds me of a very funny hand I had 2 weeks ago in Vegas. I was sitting with another guy at a high limit pit. Dude was pissed off, he was stuck around $2000 or so, and talking to himself. I was down a few hundred or so myself, but on the comeback trail. True count (using Uston Advanced Plus-Minus, if anyone cares) was +3. I bet $75, was dealt a pair of 6's to dealers 5. Split the sixes (to loud groaning and whining from Mr. high Roller). He says, "I NEVER split 6's. What the hell are you doing?" Dealt a 6 on the first hand. Split again. Dealt a 4. Double down, get a 10. Dealt a 10 to the 2nd hand for a 16. Stand. Dealt a 6 to the third hand, split again. Dealt a 5, double down, get a 10 for a 21. Dealt, yes, a 6 to the 4th hand, split again. Dealt a 2, hit with an ace for a 19. Hit the 5th hand with another 10.

By this time the high roller is nearly apoplectic. "How the hell can you do that?" he whines. He stands with an 18. Dealer flips over the 10 in the hole, hits with a 9 and busts. Patron laughs as he's paid the $525 prior to "coloring up" and leaving.

Now the funny part: as I'm waiting for my host to come to the pit to write a comp for the gourmet room, I'm watching Mr. High Roller dazzle the fans with his play. Sure enough, he's dealt two sixes...and splits 'em!<VBG>
