<<ALL ON ONE CHIP. GSM, WCDMA, bluetooth, position location, arm m/processor and dsp all on one chip. That's how you get 50% reduction in external
components.>>

obviously a PC centric type. digital world is fairly simple to integrate and get 10M transistors ona chip and integrate all that stuff. Developing it is the big job. but the reduction in parts count comes in wireless space from teh RF radioOne stuff, which reduces the stuff that costs the most int eh phone and take all the time to build and calibrate.

The bigger challenge is that when they get all this capability in a single digital chip is to integrate all the external stuff into as small a set of components as possible, such as GPS external stuff, camera, 802.11 transcievers, bluetooth radio, CDMA radio, GSM radio, WCDMA radio, UMTS radio, voice and audio circuits, etc. I can see the BOM of a future phone being driven by teh added on costs more than the cost of the MSM chip itself.
