I always amplified my bet with favorable odds. I was just pointing out that if your "large bet" was $1000, it would only cost you $5 to continue at the table if you let it ride, just as example. My initial bets started at $5 and went to $20. Sorry you made the assumption that the $1000 was a constant bet amount; I was simply guessing in response to your "huge bet" comment. I wrote my own blackjack analysis software in the summer of '81 before I went to Reno on my expedition. I have a hunch I understand probabilities quite accurately. <g>
