Well, i'm not so sure about that. Historically, bankruptcy was preferred over a Dickinsonian life time commitment to pay off all debts precisely because it moderates the entrepreneurial risk and accordingly encourages more economic activity. How many fewer Steve Jobs, Bill Gates, Dean Kamin, or Daniel Drumbaugh's would there be -- and how many fewer jobs created for others -- if the risk of failure was a lifetime in the poorhouse with no hope of escape?

Of course, for all longs I hope this discussion remains merely theoretical.
