But the average investor is only confused by all of this pro forma stuff, so i the long run it would be better for the majority if it was eliminated or at least de-emphasized In the long run, it would be better if people who don't know what the hell they're doing would stop whining and invest in index funds. In data processing there's an old saying that you can design a system to protect it from criminals, but not from fools. That goes double for greedy fools.
