I hope those numbers are exaggerated. And I suspect they're not. Because people would be reticent to admit to such things and if anything the real numbers should be HIGHER! Agreed. It's a bummer. And I suspect they continue in real life with cheating. This isn't scientific [no comprehensive data] but look how we handle sports. It's ok to make an infraction if the referee isn't looking, it's even ok to make an infraction if there is a net gain with the penalty, sic, stopped the touchdown. Look how far ol' I'm no Mother Theresa Mike Tyson got before Nevada finally stopped him, but there are other countries that will take the fight and the promoters are quite happy to support a $100M fight, whether Mike Tyson is a cannibal or not. And boxing fans, will be quite happy to pay the fees to watch the fight. Whatever it is we're teaching our kids it's not good. The Nevada boxing commission had a good lesson, but it's overwhelmed by all the other lessons. Ever notice how Asian kids do so well in US schools? To the point where many selective high schools and universities effectively have upper limits on the number of them allowed in. They're unlikely to be smarter overall. They are pushed and praised for academic achievement though. Immigrant values are somewhat interesting. We'll see them live as multi-family units, work long hours, build small businesses, send money back home; build new businesses, bring the family over...etc. And then we say..."They don't share American Family values." They used to be American family values, WTF went wrong? And it only seems to work for one or two generations. Then the kids and parents are too Americanized and fall in with the pack. There was a statistically significant upwards blip in the number of two parent families in the last US census. Some people cheered the return of American family values. I read an article by a statistician weenie, that said, look one layer down: all those two parent families are accountable for by the influx of immigrants... and then said exactly what you did, give them a generation or two to integrate and they'll be in the same boat as the rest of America is.
