12:43pm 01/31/02 Nat. gas surge helps propel OSX By Tomi Kilgore

For those that missed this like me:

The Phlx Oil Services Index ($OSX: news, chart, profile) is being boosted 3.9 percent, helped by a surge in natural gas prices and positive earnings by sector members. Late Wednesday, the American Gas Association said natural gas supplies fell 111 billion cubic feet during the week ended Jan. 25, while the market was looking for closer to a 95 billion cubic foot decline. Analyst Jim Wicklund at Banc of America said the data could imply that domestic rig counts, which had been falling over the past year, may have to rebound "sooner and stronger in order to meet future demand."
