I've watched Chris Matthews a lot in the past, if not much recently. When the recent news came that he'd advised Democrats to operate deceitfully, I only had one thought. It was a ruse.

I was surprised to hear ANY Republican, like Limbaugh for instance, seriously calling him on this. Chris, who is about as far to the right as a Democrat can get, and whom has consistently made points for the right better than many actual Republicans, simply had to have tongue firmly in cheek, IMO. The very blatant nature of his remarks almost certainly had to be designed to make a point the right certainly desires to make. I haven't watched for any rebuttal by Chris of the criticism of of him, but if he has not forthrightly cleared this up, then in my opinion, he is just gladly taking the heat in the interest of playing along- probably because he is a man who wants the Democratic party to get better, in part by rejecting his ill-begotten advice.

Hey, it's a ruse!

He's too sharp to have brought it up in the way he did without a purpose as per above.
