You have put your finger on the major sources of conflict today. The modern international system is pretty satisfactory to most people, and hardly worth going to war to revise, especially with the destructive force of modern weaponry. But there are a bunch of people who are so inherently antagonistic to the modern world that they want to overturn it, or at least neutralize its ability to penetrate and influence their territories. The most dangerous are the ones longing to establish zones of ethnic and/or religious purity, who find the idea of tolerance and freedom inherently absurd, and especially those who want to establish outlandishly anachronistic regimes, such as the Islamicists with their militant versions of shari'ah regimes.......
