Atin,

While this isn't related to p&f as much as it is to bar charts and the general theory of price projection I'll add these thoughts along with the disclaimer that I'm working on predicting just 1 bar ahead at the moment.

Regarding trading ranges screwing up predictions, I see that as a situation where price simply goes flat and reverses dir hence the projection needs to reverse dir and follow current price dir.

This is intended more to solidify my own thoughts about it than to interfere or suggest how things are done in p&f land. You're the expert and I know little about p&f projections but am aware it's possible to project beyond 1 bar out and I'm going to be looking at whether that's feasible with the methods I'm using on bar charts someday when I've time to get back the project full time.

As an aside to this subject, I've enjoyed the recent theoretical discussion about alternate scaling methods, and although I don't understand most of the implications I recognize top shelp material when I see it and have filed it away for future reference. Also fwiw, I think in the near future I'll be looking closer into Wyckoff's unusual style p&f methods and at that time I hope to engage in some thought provoking discussion, i.e. this thead is a great place to find experts in this field. Your opinions are always insightful and much appreciated.

Best regards, MM

you need a button that says "click here for Price Objective... only if you're not stupid" <VBG>

and

before anyone can download your QPNF, you should make them pass a PNF "IQ" test ... answer a few basic PNF questions and disclaimers like InteractiveBrokers does to absolve any fault from themselves, even if it *is* their fault. :-)

(actually you can do this for the pnf charts on a website too; kindof a registration process or writes a cookie once you've answered correctly)

Atin,

With all you have done for p&f chartists everywhere, it's hard to argue with any choices you make with regard to what information you decide to put on your p&f charts.

I've personally found po's to be useful and vital to the whole p&f process. I think most old time p&f chartists would agree. I just wanted to put out one person's vote for their inclusion on the charts while the subject was being mentioned.

Zieg again summarizes my feelings on the topic:

"Price objectives calculated from horizontal and vertical counts are tools which present a picture of the probable distance of a trending move. Price objectives are not exact, so they must be used with care [my comment: the part which seems to most concern you with regard to public misuse. Fair to say?] and compliment the variable price objectives presented by trendlines. Each reveals a uniquely determined objective and when used together yield the best presentation."

Thanks, as always, for the service of stockcharts.com. Your charts are an essential part of charting for me as they have been since you started creating and sharing them. I hope you hear thanks often enough to outweigh the bad comments that may come for who knows what reason.
