Very interesting. Thanks for the info. I was starting to think that MAYBE it was time to pick up some contract manufacturers, despite the fact that I cannot see even one good reason to be buying tech here. Think I'll hold off now, and keep my shorts on the chip equipment makers.

What causes components to spoil? Is it oxidation of the attachment leads? That is the only thing that makes sense to me. If that's not it then wouldn't the boards "expire" as well? Also, is the expiration date a recommendation or do the contract manufacturers have to pitch the stuff? Can it be used elsewhere or is it destroyed?
