As in the Ireland, England situation, there isn't any easy answer here, but I believe the President is looking at taking whatever measures he feels are necessary to protect our interests.

What motivation would Syria have for accepting Palestinians? My understanding is that they are not well liked by their Arab brothers, but liked better than Israel.
