Here we go again. How many times are we going to recycle this article? I think Fortune, Barron's, Information Week, Money Magazine, Kiplinger's and all the other two-bit, horoscope-like, sensationalist magazines are all part of some article sharing pool. One writes an article, throws it into the communal pool, and the others take the article, regurgitate it with maybe a one sentence change, and then perpetuate the news over several month's time to make it seem as if it is breaking news for several months. What a joke. Hell, we've known about Cisco routers and switches on Ebay since the first dotcom bust back in early 2000. Nothing's new here. Let me ask you this, though? If your network is mission critical to your business, would you buy the equipment from an untrusted source? Would you buy it without a service contract? Would you buy it knowing it's 1-2 year old technology? Maybe you would. But many people won't and a year from now, even more people won't. Cisco is constantly innovating. Every other day there is a new feature or product announcement. You may think a 100Mhz Intel CPU for $25 bucks is a great deal. I on the other hand prefer to put that money towards buying a 2 Ghz CPU, or better yet to buying 10 big macs with that money. P.S. I have a 1200 baud modem I'd like to sell you for $10. You have to have one of those rotary phone receivers to place in the rubber cradle, though. But don't worry, I have a rotary phone I can sell you for $10 too. Do we have a deal?
