Kap - You wrote , Intel is a one trick pony that got a big break with IBM PC win, but has failed repeatedly to create successful businesses outside of the box during the next 20 years.

Perhaps you can list all of AMD's trick ponies?
How many does AMD have in their stable?
And what successful businesses did AMD expand into during the past 20 years? - please don't include the use of Other Peoples' Money.

Kapkan, Re: "Indeed, Intel is a one trick pony that got a big break with IBM PC win, but has failed repeatedly to create successful businesses outside of the box during the next 20 years."

Intel has the largest market share in PC chipsets (larger than VIA's share, too). I would consider that a successful business. Although chipset profits cannot be differentiated from CPU profits on the balance sheet, I would assume that since Intel gets a large premium over VIA on chipsets, and since they outsell VIA in chipsets, that Intel is making a good profit on chipsets.

Also, Dan3, despite his polite nature, consistently fails to offer anything besides his monotonous pessimism towards Intel and his nagging predictions of the ruin of INTC stock. He has been saying the same thing for years, and his predictions are about as correct as a broken weathervane (which is correct every so often, but only when the wind happens to blow in the right direction). Not that you are much of an improvement for this thread; you only show up now and then to offer the occasional flame bait or insult, but at least you disappear for a few days after each post to give everyone a breather.
