I am not objecting to the assumption that the motives were various and not altogether pure. I am objecting to the idea that the enormity of the act was clear- cut. If you say that opinions could vary on dropping the bombs, I will say, "Of course". If you say that your opinion of it is correct, I will say "Perhaps". But if you say that that the responsible parties, with malice aforethought, slaughtered the populations of Hiroshima and Nagasaki without being on the cusp of a genuine moral dilemma, and were therefore simple war criminals, well, you may as well tell me that they worshipped Satan in the Oval Office, I cannot believe it without more compelling evidence than you have ever presented.......
