Finnish/Sonera GPRS pricing plan/math:

Lots of GPRS users x $0 per user = Lots of $$$$!

Yeah, that's the ticket.

When I looked at Sonera's pricing plans a long time ago, it appeared that the low price was designed to rope the user in.

Didn't happen, did it? So the alternative is to give it away on the hope that gratis works.

Doesn't say a lot for GPRS's popularity. Otherwise, you can bet that it wouldn't be free.

A disturbing sign for data in all directions.

If the most telecom savvy country in Europe* is having trouble with GPRS, and giving it away, what does the future hold?

* Notice that I didn't say "world". That honor is reserved for the S. Koreans. No problems with data there.

Heh, heh, heh.
