"suicidal people in extreme circumstances".

This has nothing to do with justifying the bombs. Hundreds of suicides occurred after the surrender. This is expected, even in cultures which are not bees. It is a stretch to suggest that the the bombs prevented more suicides, and, in any case, how would one balance the self chosen deaths of a few hundred war criminals against the agonny of innocent children?

"The kamikaze program took their best, most devoted pilots and made them into human bombs."

That is a stupid comment. These were teenage kids who had no opportunity to train because there was barely any gas left! Some of them had only been in the air a few hours.

To call them "best" is ridiculous. Some of them "attacked" Okinawa after the surrender. None of these "aces" got there! They were not even old enough to drive a car, for crying out loud!!!

"After the surrender, 11 "pilots" attacked Okinawa. They were flying the best planes the Japanese had left. Four turned back with "engine trouble." Seven were listed as "missing". Admiral Onishi had already cut his guts out.
