Someone needs to calculate the adjustment for higher anticipated growth rate and lower current interest rate environment today than in 1994 to make that comparison more meaningful

But they can't be THAT much better ...!

The cash earnings per share for the basket of stocks representing the current Sox index is expected to be 15% lower in 2002 than it was in 1994.

That's an unfair comparison since it's from different times in the cycle. A three year average would be better.

I'm sure the ratio is still absurd.
