And if that's true then its clear that Itanium-class microprocessors will be nearly ubiquitous by the end of the decade. Anything under 10 GHz will probably be considered very "low end".

I note that it doesn't ensure the profitability of every chip Intel (or anybody else) decides to manufacture.
