I would restore an older registry.

To restore a Registry backup, boot your computer to a C:> prompt and run ScanReg. Follow the instructions to view your backed-up Registry files and restore the most recent one before the problem arose.

Here are a couple of other ideas to try if the restore doesn't get you back to drive letter D.

Have you compressed your hard drive per chance?
